English National Cross Country Championship - Alton Towers - 23 February 2008
Above: Around 1,300 runners set out in the 2008 Senior Men's Championship. At the front of the Belgrave pen, Phil Wicks has made a good start and is chased by Will Cockerell, in his last "National" as Skipper, Dave Mason and James Fairbourn.
Below: Descending to the bottom of the course on the first lap, Andi Jones (Salford) and Tom Humphries (Cannock & Stafford) have just run through but Steve Vernon (Stockport), Mike Skinner (6033 Blackheath & Bromley H), Phil Wicks and Matthew Watson (5944 Bingley H) are hot on their heels.
Right: Lap two, and on the second climb of the hill that had many runners scrabbling on hands and knees, only Tom Humphries remains ahead of the Belgrave man.
