Belgrave Open 7 miles. Wet weather assisted in producing low numbers for the 84th Belgrave 7 miles held on the undulating multilap light traffic course, however the first seven competitors produced good times. The numbers regretfully did no justice to the, once again, excellent prizes put together by Mick and Pauline Marshall. If numbers do not increase significantly next year then serious consideration will have to be given to the format of the race, if held.

VAC, Belgrave, Surrey, Middlesex and Herts 10,000m Championships, Battersea Park. 

John Hall did his utmost to defeat Andrew Cross, thirty years his junior, who set a fast pace and covered the first five laps in exactly 10 minutes. John drew level at the half way point, and enjoyed a 10 metres advantage for a while before Cross caught up and then put in a burst with four laps to go. John nevertheless gained three gold medals for his efforts becoming Middlesex, Vets AC and Belgrave champion.  Steve Uttley was one minute adrift in third place and Carl Lawton, first for Surrey, was fourth.  Doug Fotheringham was first M70 in an excellent time of 62:17.
