Another year with several International competitions making further demands on our top athletes. Fortunately new members and up and coming junior athletes filled essential team places to maintain out pre-eminence in domestic competition. But there were some hiccups on the way and it was not until the final match in Jarrow that we secured League victory and another chance to represent UK clubs in the 2002 European Champion Club’s Cup. The Table below ranks our team members. Only 4 people made all 4 matches but new members Graham Beasley, Steve Sharp and Clifton Green achieved maximum possible appearances as they missed matches due to hardship rule bans, Yet again Lee Newman headed the rankings despite missing one fixture due to injury. Graham Beasley moved effortlessly into second spot and is proving to be a Team Manager’s dream covering everything up to 400m. It was good to see Dave Smith back and his 4 appearances were much appreciated The total number of athletes used was 51, which is six fewer than last year. |
