With a nine man team to cover 32 individual events plus both relays it didn’t take much to work out that we were unlikely to be fighting for a team win!  Undaunted, however, six personal records were set by our lads – mostly in the middle distance department – and our big shot putter Kyle Stevens was made man of the match.  

Jonathon Blackledge had a 3000m pb just a few  tenths faster than Darren Malin’s but at the end of seven and a half laps of racing it was Darren who came out with the slightly faster time as both chopped some six seconds off their best.  Graeme Oudney set new figures for 800 and 400 metres and then featured in both relays, backed up in all that he did by Robin MacIntosh.  William Docherty recorded his best ever steeplechase time – his last race before going into the Army the following day – while on the field Kyle Stevens won the shot with his best ever distance to beat Enfield's Carl Saggers, and Seni Mayekodunmi won the triple jump.  James Ellington and Jon Regis did sterling work in the sprints but without a lot more manpower in the remaining two matches, we could be looking at relegation.
