Junior Surrey League, Div 1, Race 2, Wimbledon and Nonsuch Park, 10th Nov 2018

A great team result for the U13 Boys at Wimbledon on a miserable wet day.

Faced with much sterner opposition than in the Race 1 at Richmond in October, both in terms of quality and numbers, our boys pulled out all the stops to finish 3rd, only 1 point behind Herne Hill, whilst retaining third place in the League. Standout run of the day came from Monty Juxon, finishing in 2nd slot, only 6 seconds behind the winner and just ahead of his brother Jago in 9th place . Not far behind came a procession of wet Harriers, with Oliver Cunningham in 14th, Seb Cockerell in 27th, Max Simpson in 40th and first timer Alex Kabysh in 48th.

Over at Nonsuch Park the Junior Girls managed to finish before the deluge began. Lina Colas was our first U13 Girls athlete home in 13th spot, with another first timer Cosima Reed finishing in 49th and clearly seeking to move up next time. In the U15 race Freya Marney showed her real potential, and the benefit of upping her training with her triathlon club, by placing 34th, with the ever dependable Juliette Michot coming home in 48th. We have Maddy Whitman back for the next U15 race in January, after an excellent London American Schools Fall Cross Country season - we need one more to give us a very strong looking team. Looks like their Coach will need to do some serious lobbying before then.
