Nine PBs as Belgrave juniors raid HHH open

HHH Open, 22nd May, Battersea Park

Nine athletes competed. Nine athletes achieved PBs, and some by huge margins: 12 seconds for Micky, 12 seconds for Seb - no-one could possibly look more like a 1500m/3000m athlete than Seb, who has moved up almost 200 places through the UK U15B rankings in 2 years - and 7 seconds for Alexis.

Tom decided to ‘do an Oliver’ and went through the first 200m in 33 seconds.

We had the usual palaver with Jediael and his shoes, and again he did his best to give his coach a heart attack - he was still chatting to friends in the stands at 4:27pm. The race was due to start at 4:30pm.

Micky yet again got one of the loudest cheers of the day from his travelling fan club, although no-one could quite beat the support for Alexis, as we all awaited the blow-up that never came.

Harry ran what I think was his first official race and beat everyone’s predicted finishing time by 10 seconds.

Ismael realised that he’s actually quite fast when the penny finally dropped with 150m to go.

Oliver spent the 20 minutes before his race saying that he wasn’t bothered by his time, and then proceeded to race as if that was all he was bothered about.

Daisy fooled the rest of the field into thinking that no-one that small, and that young, could actually compete with the best of them. Big mistake.
