Another UKA title for Goldie Sayers

The final day of the UKA Championships & Olympic Trials saw two more titles fall to Belgravians and hopefully further places booked for the Olympic Team.

An amazing tenth consecutive senior national javelin title went to Goldie Sayers - who was just out of the medals in fourth place at the Beijing Olympics where she threw her best ever distance (and British Record) of 65.75 metres. With a 64.73 in the Samsung Diamond League in Rome earlier this season she's not so far behind the sort of distance that could see a medal come her way in London. It would be Goldie's third Olympic Games.

Will Sharman was unlucky to place 4th in a very tight sprint hurdles final and Samson Oni - who has the Olympic Standard height of 2.31 tucked away from January this year - placed second in the high jump and will surely be a part of the Olympic team.

Pressured Chambers storms to a dramatic win

After well publicised years in the wilderness and at last gaining at least the legal possibility of competing in the 2012 Olympic Games the now 34 year-old Dwain Chambers had to face perhaps his toughest ever domestic 100 metre field, loaded with up and coming youngsters, some nearly half his age.

The pressure was immense ... as can be seen by Dwain's reaction after he crossed the line ... but the win was his in 10.25 secs.

It still remains for the Belgrave man to find the qualifying time of 10.18 and hopefully he can achieve this at the European Championships which start in Helsinki this week.

Also in the 100 metres the ever consistent Greg Cackett was just 100th of a second from his best ever time in winning his heat in 10.44 but was unable to get through the semi-final stage. Getenesh Tamirat ran to 4th in the women's 10,000 metres with a time of 33:09.47 and she was the second UK runner (although there were only four UK participants). Jodie Favell set a personal record in her heat of the 400 metre hurdles. Steve Davies made the final of the 1500 metres but was unable to improve on the 3:46.72 from his heat.
