Wicks third in Inter-Counties

Underlining yet again that everything seems to be falling into place as he works towards his Spring-time and Summer goals, Phil Wicks, coached by Matt Whiting, took some great scalps as he ran to third place in the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championship.

On the second lap of the rolling hills of Cofton Park Phil and Jonny Hay were a little detached from the leaders in 6th and 7th. Lap three saw a strong push from National Champion Keith Gerrard and he built on this to earn another fine win. Meanwhile, our man was also pulling back rivals ... Brownlee ... Taylor ... and as the finish neared there was a possibility that he might even take the silver medal but Ricky Stevenson had too much pace.

Phil's effort spearheaded the Surrey team (which also included our Dan Agustus in 41st) to silver team medals.
