Conall McNally and Mimi Corden-Lloyd take 2022/23 Winter Plate titles

Conall McNally has won his third consecutive Winter Plate while Mimi Corden-Lloyd takes the Belles’ prize for the second time.

Mimi Corden-Lloyd secured her plate win at the National…

…as did Conall McNally.

The Plate is awarded to the man and women who have contributed the most team points over the cross country season and is an objective measure of commitment and performance.

As is now tradition for the men, next winter’s Surrey League bib numbers will be decided by the previous season’s Winter Plate finish, so Conall win once again wear the coveted #1 on his chest.

And as part of our new partnership with Tracksmith, Conall and Mimi will also receive kit across the coming 12 months.

Men’s final table

The back row of our Surrey County XC podium photo is made up of our Plate top three: (l-r) Jonny Scott, George Loxton, Conall McNally. A front row of (l-r) Angus Lamb, Tom Lole and Jonny Neville completed our scoring six that day.

A new entry at #2: George Loxton enjoyed a fantastic debut season for us, turning out in all seven fixtures and scoring in five of them. That’s his first season as a senior, too, and we can’t wait to see how much he improves. We’ve found a real one.

Jonny Scott will wear #3 from October, a decent improvement on his #7 this campaign. He scored in all five fixtures he ran, and we felt his absence in the first and last fixtures of the winter.

Notes:

  • As has been the case for the past few seasons, the men’s table scores the County championships but not the South of the Thames races to reflect the agreed priorities of the team.

  • All scores are from a maximum of 30 points per race and where we have more than 30 runners out, everyone after 30th Bel scores one point.

  • Second claimers only score points when wearing claret and gold.

Belles final table

The winner of the 2022/23 Ladies Plate is Mimi Corden-Lloyd who scored 114 points. Liv Papaioannou was second with 105, then Natalie Beadle third with 99 just ahead of Ella-May Hards who scored 97 and Naomi Lenane with 90.

The Ladies Plate is scored differently from the men's. Points are scored for the four league races, then five Championships races; two South of Thames, the Southern, National and this year the London which makes a total of nine possible races. 20 points are awarded to the first finisher in each race, followed by 19 points and so on.

This season Mimi ran in all nine races, Liv in 7 and Nat in six. They, together with others who have supported the team in many races over the winter, are the bedrock of this successful team.
