Coronavirus: Group training cancelled until further notice

Important notice

Following the change in government advice this afternoon (16th March) to avoid “all unnecessary social contact” Belgrave Harriers is cancelling all group training until further notice.

While our priority is the health of our athletes, coaches and officials, we also have a responsibility to the wider community not to do anything that could contribute to the spread of the virus or put unnecessary strain on our health services.

Do contact your coach for further information and guidance on how best to stay fit during these extraordinary times.

Coaching secretary

For clarity, earlier in the day we posted this message, which has now been superseded:

In accordance with advice from Public Health England and England Athletics, training sessions will continue as normal until further notice, or unless you hear otherwise from your coach.

However, anyone with flu-like symptoms including a temperature or a new continuous cough should avoid the risk of spreading their infection by staying at home and recovering.

If you are uncomfortable training in large groups at times like this, your coach may provide you with session plans that can be completed on your own.

If there is any doubt at all about your symptoms, we request that you err on the side of caution and stay away from training. It is for the benefit of your coaches and fellow athletes.
