European Championships 2014

Now for the European Championships in Zurich, starting Tuesday 12 and running through to Sunday 17 August, with the GB&NI Team led by Captain Goldie Sayers. The Stadium Letzigrund is the setting for this the 22nd edition of the games, where 1400 athletes from 50 countries will take part.

Phillips Idowu has pulled out of the triple jump but we have Dwain Chambers in the 100 metres (Q Tuesday, SF & F Wednesday), Goldie Sayers in the javelin (Q Tuesday, F Thursday) where she will be eager to throw well over 60 metres again, and ace-hurdler William Sharman (Q Wednesday, SF & F Thursday); can he go one better than the silver he brought back from Glasgow?
