Surrey CC League, Race 3, Wimbledon Common

All set for a grandstand finish

Having lost the opening match to Ranelagh by 55 points the Belles pulled back 33 in match two. Now, on Ranelagh's home course, the lead was reduced by a mere 5 points to set up an exciting final race. Belgrave will need to beat Ranelagh by 18 points in the last league race to be certain of winning the Division One title for a second successive year - something we have never done before.

Sarah Murphy is going from strength to strength; once again she got the better of Tilly Heaton to spearhead the Belles attack. Helan Smethurst and Christine Bertram both went well and Captain "Jules" closed in the scoring five. In the youngest age-group Megan Evans showed great promise for the future by placing 3rd.
