Sweatshop Surrey Cross Country League, Petersham

A depleted Belgrave men's team started the series off with a lowly seventh place in Richmond Park while Thames Hare & Hounds and Herne Hill Harriers began what looks as if it will be a regular head to head between them this winter. Phil Wicks was far and away the strongest individual, winning by 42 seconds from Ben Whitby (Herne Hill) and Phil Sly (Thames H&H). Will Cockerell was 11th but with other leading Belgravians resting up for the following day's National 10k Champs at Chichester ... and Richard Stannard unable to find a space in the car park and missing the start ... we struggled somewhat.
