Virgin London Marathon

Belgrave women's team clinched second team place in the England Athletics Championship held in conjunction with the Virgin London Marathon, led home by Samantha Amend, pictured above on the Embankment. Louise Blizzard and Tilly Heaton both backed up by running a little over 3 hours. Sam was slightly disappointed with her time of 2 hrs. 44 mins. 29 secs., hoping to go closer or even under 2 hrs. 40 mins. Team winners, were Cornwall AC.

Phil Wicks ran into trouble in the men's race, looking a little uncomfortable approaching Tower Bridge whilst on the back of a group heading towards 2 hrs. 12 mins. He became detached from the group after the bridge, around 12 miles, and eventually came out of the race at 22 miles.
