Albrow claims bronze at World Masters Indoor Championships

Jodie Albrow brought home a bronze medal in the W40 Pentathlon at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in March, closing out her indoor season on a high.

Albrow opened her campaign in Florida with a sharp 9.50s in the 60m hurdles, her best of the season, which placed her 3rd and set the tone for the day. She followed this with another season’s best in the high jump, clearing 1.41m to maintain her podium position.

A solid throw of 9.07m in the shot put — the second-best of the field — helped Albrow consolidate her place among the leaders, before she hit yet another season’s best with a 4.69m effort in the long jump.

With just the 800m remaining, Albrow knew a composed performance would likely secure a medal — and she delivered. In a tactical and hard-fought race, she clocked 2:42.46 to finish fourth in the heat, enough to hold onto third place overall with a final score of 3,331 points.

She was joined on the podium by fellow Brit Dash Newington (silver, 3,409 points) and Chile’s María Alejandra Figueroa Serrano (gold, 3,493 points), after a competitive contest that saw all three medallists post multiple personal or season bests.
