Belgrave take step forward in NAL round two

Belgrave fared better in the second National League match of the season, finishing in fifth place out of the six teams, ahead of Herne Hill Harriers. Both clubs are on the same number of league points going into the third match at Bromley on July 19th.

The Belgrave women's team in particularly did very well, finishing second on the day, but there were many gaps in the men's team which resulted in their low score.

There were some outstanding performances from the women's team:

Alessandra MacDonald and Holly Aldridge, both first,  scored maximum 22 points in the 400mH.

Imogen Milliner (1st) and Naomi Storm (2nd) scored 20 pts in the Pole vault.

Bryony Wilson and Rachel Donnison both came second in the 800m, (18 pts).

Louisa Stoney (1st in 53.51) and Natasha Smith (3rd) scored 18 points in the 400m.

Nova Janson (4th) and Mia Callenberg (1st), 17 pts in the Discuss.

Laura Darcey (3rd) and Georgia Patterson (2nd) 16 pts in the High Jump

Miriam Glasser (3rd) and Holly Aldridge again (2nd) in the 100mH, (16 pts).

Outstanding for the men's team were:

Sam Sommerville, 1st in the 2000m Steeplechase, with Valentin Rigori 2nd in the B race, (20 pts).

Alastair Stanley was 3rd in the Pole Vault with Valentin coming 2nd again, (15 pts)

There was a fine team spirit on the day with many filling in the team sheet where they could. We now need a big performance in Bromley this Saturday in order to preserve our status in the Championship.
