Backtrack - Race Walking at Battersea 1938

The caption to this photograph from the Belgrave archives simply states: "Walk Match - Battersea Park C.1938. Starters include H.G. Churcher, C.E.Churcher, D.E.Brown, A.A. Harley, F.Jarvis, C.W. Redgrave."

Our first stab at naming the faces came up with Don Brown (1), Harry Churcher (7), Charlie Churcher (23), C.W.Redgrave (24) and Alf Harley (behind no. 1). However, as others have become involved and have cast their eyes over the picture, we are now not at all sure of anyone except Alf Harley. For instance we are told that Charlie Churcher did not wear glasses and the chap next to Harry, second from the left, may be Jack Rutland. If anyone can help us with more specific details of the race then we would be very pleased to hear from them.
