Elevated to the A race at the BMC Nike Grand Prix after his win and pb at the previous event at Watford, Simon Jones lopped another three seconds off his 5k time, placing 6th in 14:03.79. A sub-14 beckons, as he nestles between Stephen Sharp and David Anderson on our all-time list in 24th place (up from 30th).
Sharpy himself clocked a respectable 14:21.36 and Paskar Owor set new figures of 14:26.00. It was a disappointing run from Paskar though, his recent 29:28 10k pointing to something nearer 14 minutes.
Home from the USA for a while and planning to tackle the UK Championships and Trials, Kris Gauson (pictured above) placed third in a tight A 1500 metres where the first seven were all within 9/10ths. Back in early June he qualified for the prestigious NCAA Championship but had the bad luck to pick up food poisoning on his way to the event and although he took part, had to pull out of the race.
