Llandudno 10 miles (inc Welsh Championship)

With a howling wind that had barriers being blown over and the start delayed by 30 minutes the Llandudno 10 miles, incorporating the Welsh Championship, got under way. Tarus of Kenya (owner of a 28 and a half 10k clocking) rushed to the front with Simon Jones (representing South Wales) tucking in behind. After a few miles of failing to break away, the Kenyan encouraged our man to go ahead but was met with several curt utterances of, "No!", until Jonesy, sensing heavier breathing by the man in front, gave him a tester. Pushing up a hill at eight miles a little break developed but by nine miles it was as you were with the man from the Rift Valley a pace ahead. And then, four hundred metres to go and Jonesy floored it, keeping the pressure up until the line on the seafront had been crossed. A great result - a personal record and a first Welsh Championship - 51:32 to 51:34.

Men. 1 S Jones 51:32.
