Holming In Nicely
Whilst our stars were getting their paws stuck in the Mansfield gloop, writes Will Cockerell, our local gang made a welcome return to Reigate where we've excelled in the past. On this occasion it was a case of the squad being on various comeback trails, and having positive returns all round. For the Belles, Amy really enjoyed kicking us off in 11th, after little regular running over the past year. Vicki was pleased to get some confidence back after a torrid Great South, and Tilly proved that even short on training she's still strong as an ox, with the day's 22nd best.
For the men, we were frustrated to be one body short of a legit sextet, but it opened up the chance for new man Martin Holm to show us his terrific ability. 5th fastest of the day on leg 1 became 10th fastest on anchor, as he almost ran down Dorking's Nick Hodges for the top 5.
Tim Weeks was fine before tweaking his calf 600 out, the 'Pillar was a tad distracted and leaked 20 seconds on the descent he so dreads; Warren was very sound, as was Rob, until he got knifed by a stitch at half way that saw him adopt a snarling grimace for the next 500 seconds of his life.
